How to treat uterine fibroids with moxibustion

How to treat uterine fibroids with moxibustion

1. Reasons

Uterine fibroids are benign muscular tumors that form in a certain part of the uterine muscle layer and expand into the muscle layer, peritoneum, or broad ligaments. This disease is also called "mass tumors". The age of onset is mostly between 30 and menopause. The tumors vary in size, from as small as a thumb to as large as a child's head.

2. Symptoms

Generally, there are no specific symptoms. If the fibroids are large, they may be mistaken for pregnancy. The abdomen of a pregnant woman is soft when pressed because the fetus is in the amniotic fluid; the abdomen of a patient with uterine fibroids is hard when pressed. Uterine fibroids larger than 3 to 4 cm can be felt between the middle pole and the flexor bone.

After the formation of fibroids, it usually manifests as prolonged menstruation or excessive bleeding and dysmenorrhea, eventually leading to anemia.

Symptoms vary depending on the site of onset. Uterine fibroids that occur under the serosa at the bottom of the uterus have almost no symptoms unless they are very large; uterine fibroids that occur under the mucosa can cause endometritis and menstrual abnormalities; uterine fibroids that occur in the cervix can cause compression symptoms of the bladder and rectum.

Treatment

Treatment is the same as for amenorrhea.

For patients with excessive bleeding, surgery is recommended.

For those whose bleeding and compression symptoms are not severe, moxibustion can be performed.

For patients with fist-sized uterine fibroids, moxibustion for 5 to 6 months, even if it cannot eliminate the fibroids, can inhibit the development of the fibroids, and the patient's daily life will not be affected.
