Causes of amenorrhea

Causes of amenorrhea

Causes of amenorrhea:

Amenorrhea may be caused by psychological factors, drug factors, endometrial damage, etc. It is a more common gynecological symptom, generally referring to the absence of menstruation, or the cessation of menstruation for 6 months after the menstrual cycle is established. Patients may also experience symptoms such as hair loss, headache, and nipple discharge, and need to seek medical attention in time.

1. Mental factors: mainly include overwork, long-term depression, tension, etc., which may temporarily change the function of the hypothalamus and cause menstruation to stop. If there are no other symptoms, menstruation will quickly return to normal after the mental factors are reduced or even alleviated, and no special treatment is required. Patients usually need to maintain an optimistic attitude and do some exercise appropriately to avoid overwork.

2. Drug factors: For women of childbearing age with normal sexual life, they may take contraceptives such as mifepristone tablets, drospirenone ethinyl estradiol tablets, desogestrel ethinyl estradiol tablets for a long time, which may lead to menopause. Generally, menstruation will return to normal after stopping the medication for 3 to 6 months.

3. Endometrial damage: usually caused by uterine curettage, diagnostic curettage and other intrauterine surgeries, the basal layer of the endometrium is damaged, resulting in the endometrium not being able to shed normally, leading to amenorrhea. Under the guidance of a doctor, you need to take drugs such as dydrogesterone tablets, methylprogesterone acetate dispersible tablets, and methylhydroxyprogesterone acetate tablets.

In addition to the above reasons, it may also be caused by hypothalamic tumors and other reasons. Patients should try to avoid excessive fatigue and maintain good living habits.
