Can uterine fibroids be treated with minimally invasive surgery if they are too large?

Can minimally invasive surgery be performed if uterine fibroids are too large?

Minimally invasive generally refers to minimally invasive surgery. Generally, if the uterine fibroids are no larger than 10cm, minimally invasive surgery can be chosen. If they are larger than 10cm, open surgery is generally recommended.

Uterine fibroids can be treated with minimally invasive surgery: Uterine fibroids can cause menorrhagia or even secondary anemia; abdominal pain, sexual pain or torsion of the subserosal fibroid pedicle; infertility or repeated miscarriage; compression symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, constipation, etc.; uterine fibroids larger than 4cm and smaller than 10cm, with accelerated growth of uterine fibroids, and suspected malignant transformation. As long as the uterine fibroids do not exceed 10cm, minimally invasive surgery can be selected.

Minimally invasive surgery mainly uses laparoscopic myomectomy, which can effectively remove uterine fibroids without damaging the structure and function of the uterus. The advantages of minimally invasive surgery are small wounds, fast recovery, and few postoperative complications. Generally, patients can be discharged from the hospital after 3 to 5 days of hospitalization. However, minimally invasive surgery requires high technical skills from doctors, so you must choose a regular hospital that can undertake such complex surgery to reduce the risk of surgery.

After uterine fibroid surgery, patients should pay attention to rest more. It is recommended to rest in bed, but they also need to exercise appropriately and avoid long-term bed rest. They can take appropriate walks, slow walks and other activities. Be careful not to do strenuous activities or overwork. Go to the outpatient clinic for a follow-up one month after surgery to observe the postoperative recovery. If you feel uncomfortable, you should seek medical attention in time.
