What is the difference between cervical erosion and candidal vaginitis

What is the difference between cervical erosion and candidal vaginitis?

Cervical erosion generally refers to cervical columnar epithelium ectopia, and candidal vaginitis generally refers to vulvovaginal candidiasis. They are different in nature, cause and symptoms.

1. Different nature:

Cervical columnar epithelial ectopia is a common physiological phenomenon. Vulvovaginal candidiasis is a common vulvovaginal inflammation caused by Candida.

2. Different reasons:

Cervical columnar epithelial dysplasia is associated with elevated estrogen levels and is common in pregnant women, adolescent women, or women taking oral contraceptives. Vulvovaginal candidiasis is caused by infection with the Candida yeast.

3. Different symptoms:

Cervical columnar epithelial ectopy has no obvious discomfort symptoms, but when combined with infection, symptoms such as abnormal vaginal discharge, vulvar itching, and contact bleeding may occur. Vulvovaginal candidiasis is mainly manifested by vulvar itching, redness, swelling, and burning sensation, and vaginal discharge that is curd-like or tofu-like, and has an odor.

In addition to the above differences, there are also different treatment differences. You need to actively seek medical treatment after you get sick. If it is cervical columnar epithelial ectopia, the patient cannot be treated temporarily. Pay attention to observation and strengthen daily local hygiene. If it is vulvovaginal candidiasis, patients should actively treat it. They can use drugs such as fluconazole capsules, clotrimazole suppositories, miconazole nitrate suppositories, etc. under the guidance of a doctor.
