Uterine fibroids can only be removed surgically. What is the treatment for uterine fibroids?

The treatment options for uterine fibroids are not limited to surgical treatment. Surgery is indeed the most commonly used treatment, but it is not recommended. How much of the uterine fibroid can be removed?

1. Generally speaking, uterine fibroids refer to uterine leiomyoma, which is a common benign tumor in the female reproductive organs. According to the different growth locations, they can be divided into subserosal fibroids, intramural fibroids, submucosal fibroids or cervical fibroids, broad ligament fibroids, etc. Different types of uterine fibroids may show clinical manifestations such as menorrhagia, lower abdominal mass or dysuria.

2. If the uterine fibroids are relatively large and exceed 5.0CM, surgical removal can be required to avoid adverse effects, because the fibroids grow too fast and are prone to lesions.

3. There are many traditional surgical methods for uterine fibroids, including total hysterectomy, subtotal hysterectomy, myomectomy, uterine artery embolization, major invasive laparotomy, minimally invasive laparoscopy and interventional embolization. Each of these methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the appropriate method should be selected according to the specific situation of the patient.

4. There is also a non-invasive treatment for uterine fibroids (ultrasound ablation therapy). Ultrasound ablation therapy is currently the safest and most effective method for treating uterine fibroids. It is a new non-invasive (no surgery, no puncture) local physical treatment for uterine fibroids. It focuses high-intensity ultrasound on the uterine fibroids in the body, relies on high temperature and cavitation effect mechanism, causes the uterine fibroid tissue to coagulate and necrotize, achieves the purpose of local inactivation of uterine fibroids, and prevents further growth of uterine fibroids.

The treatment of uterine fibroids is mainly surgery, but surgical treatment is not a treatment method. When uterine fibroids are not serious in the early stage, they can be treated with drugs, but it should be done under the guidance of a doctor.
