1. Follicular cysts and corpus luteum cysts appear in different stages of the menstrual cycle of normal women of childbearing age. They are physiological retention cysts, usually single, but may also be multiple. Follicular cysts and corpus luteum cysts are generally 1 to 3 cm in diameter, occasionally up to 5 to 6 cm.
