What causes adenomyosis and how to treat it

Adenomyosis is a common gynecological disease. The main cause is endometriosis, which is the growth of endometrial tissue in other parts outside the uterus, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity. The specific cause is still unclear, but it may be related to the following factors:

1. Congenital factors: Genetic factors may increase the risk of disease.

2. Immune factors: Abnormalities in the immune system may cause endometrial tissue to grow in the wrong location.

3. Hormonal factors: Hormone imbalance may lead to endometriosis.

The main methods of treating adenomyosis include the following:

1. Drug treatment: Commonly used drugs include oral contraceptives, progesterone and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc. These drugs can control pain, reduce inflammation and regulate hormone levels.

2. Surgical treatment: For patients with severe symptoms or those who are ineffective with drug treatment, surgery may be necessary. Surgery can relieve symptoms by removing ectopic endometrial tissue, such as endometrial resection, hysterectomy, and ovarian cystectomy.

3. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: Traditional Chinese medicine can improve the symptoms of adenomyosis by regulating qi and blood, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. Commonly used traditional Chinese medicines include Xiaoyao Pills, Chinese Angelica, and Chuanxiong.

The treatment of adenomyosis requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as the severity of the patient's symptoms, age, and reproductive needs. During the treatment process, the patient should actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment plan and undergo regular review and follow-up.
