Can virgins also have cervical erosion? How can women prevent cervical erosion?

We all know that before a virgin has sex, there is a layer of hymen covering the vaginal opening to protect the vagina. So can a virgin also suffer from cervical erosion? How to prevent cervical erosion?

1. What is cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion is a very common chronic disease.

In fact, cervical erosion is not real erosion. It is caused by chronic cervicitis. The inflammation in the deep tissue of the cervix is not easy to eliminate. The squamous epithelium on the surface of the cervix falls off due to nutritional disorders, and the peeling surface is gradually covered by columnar epithelium derived from the proliferation of the cervical canal.

Because the columnar epithelium is thin, the blood vessels and red stroma underneath can be seen, making the erosion surface red and clearly demarcated from the surrounding normal squamous epithelium. Also, because the columnar epithelium of the cervix is everted, erythematous, and more fragile, it may bleed when touched (contact bleeding). Most cases are accompanied by purulent discharge.

2. What are the pathogens?

For those who develop from acute to chronic conditions, gonococci, Chlamydia trachomatis, and human papillomavirus are the most common; in addition, Staphylococci, Streptococci, Escherichia coli, and anaerobic bacteria are also common.

3. How to classify?

Clinically, the erosion is divided into three degrees: mild, moderate and severe according to the size of the erosion surface.

Cervical erosion can be divided into three types according to its manifestations:

1. Simple erosion: more common in the early stage of inflammation, the erosion surface is covered by a single layer of columnar epithelium, and the epidermis is relatively flat and smooth.

2. Granular erosion: The inflammation continues to exist, causing excessive proliferation of the cervical epithelium. The erosion surface is uneven and granular in appearance, which is granular erosion.

3. Papillary erosion: If the glandular epithelium and stroma proliferate significantly, the unevenness becomes more obvious, and it is papillary-shaped, which is papillary erosion.

These three types can exist alone or coexist alternately. It is also divided into specific and nonspecific types according to the cause.

A, specific: refers to infection caused by bacteria. Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis are the most common pathogens of cervical infection.

B, non-specific: Most of them are caused by the imbalance of estrogen secretion, such as many unmarried and childless people.

Cervical erosion is often accompanied by cervical hypertrophy. It is due to the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation and tissue hyperplasia that causes cervical hypertrophy. Even if the inflammation is cured, cervical hypertrophy may still exist.

4. What are the symptoms?

The main manifestation is increased leucorrhea. Due to different pathogenic bacteria, inflammation range and degree, the amount, shape, color and smell of leucorrhea are also different. It can be milky white mucous or yellow purulent or bloody. Cervical erosion can cause contact bleeding or irregular vaginal bleeding. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity, there may be pain in the sacrum, abdominal pain and falling pain, which are aggravated every time, defecation, or sexual intercourse. A few people may have it. It seriously affects women's physical and mental health.

5. I am very hygienic, why do I have cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion is a common chronic inflammation of the cervix in women, and the incidence is higher in women of childbearing age. Many women would think, "I usually pay attention to hygiene, why do I get this disease?" In fact, getting this disease is not necessarily the result of poor hygiene.

6.Can a virgin have cervical erosion?

According to the time of occurrence of erosion, it can be divided into congenital and acquired. The one caused by inflammation is acquired. About 15-20% of young unmarried women have congenital uterine erosion, most of which can heal on their own or develop secondary inflammation due to infection.

7. Is it okay to not treat if there are no symptoms?

Some people have mild illnesses, with no obvious symptoms, and are unwilling to seek treatment. Experience tells us that spontaneous recovery is rare and the disease will become more and more serious without treatment. Studies in recent years have also shown that cervical erosion is related to papillomavirus (HpV) infection, and HPV infection is related to the occurrence of cervical cancer. Therefore, it is believed that cervical erosion should be actively treated.

8. What is the best treatment method?

At present, the treatment methods are mostly vaginal medication and physical methods. Vaginal medication is mostly traditional Chinese medicine or a mixture of traditional Chinese medicine and antibiotics, which has the effects of clearing away heat and dampness, reducing swelling and relieving pain, promoting blood circulation and promoting tissue regeneration, etc. It is non-invasive, convenient to use, and easily accepted by patients. It is especially suitable for patients with mild cervical erosion. However, for patients with moderate and severe cervical erosion, drug treatment is not effective and takes a long time and costs a lot. It is recommended to use physical methods to achieve better results.

How to prevent cervical erosion in daily life?

1. Keep the vulva clean. If there is no infection, do not use various flushing liquids to avoid damaging the natural protective barrier of the vagina, which will only make it more annoying the more you wash.

2. Take good care of contraception and birth control. Avoid the pain and trauma of abortion and curettage. Cervical lacerations caused by childbirth should be sutured in time.

3. Regular gynecological examinations. Cervical erosion and early cervical cancer are difficult to distinguish with the naked eye. Cervical smear examination is a simple, easy and reliable method.

4. Actively treat cervical erosion if found. Vaginal medication, laser, electric ironing and freezing can be used for treatment.

5. Keep a happy spirit and enhance disease resistance. Cervical erosion is a chronic disease. Although it is a risk factor for cervical cancer, it is not a precancerous lesion and there is no need to worry about it.
