Is mild cervical erosion contagious?

Cervical erosion can be divided into mild cervical erosion, moderate cervical erosion and severe cervical erosion according to the size of the erosion area.

The specific manifestation of cervical erosion is a fine granular red area in the cervical vaginal part at the external os of the cervix. The boundary of the eroded surface is clearly demarcated from the normal cervical epithelium. It has now been renamed "cervical columnar epithelium ectopia".

"Cervical erosion" is not a true ulceration of epithelial shedding and ulceration, nor is it equivalent to the pathological diagnostic criteria for chronic cervicitis. Cervical erosion-like changes may be physiological columnar epithelial ectopia, that is, the squamous epithelium of the cervical vagina is replaced by the columnar epithelium of the endocervical canal; it may also be pathological, such as congestion and edema of the cervical columnar epithelium during inflammation, or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early manifestations of cervical cancer.

Causes of low back pain caused by mild cervical erosion

1. Uterine prolapse: The uterus shifts downward along the guide. Due to the weakness and reduced tension of the pelvic tissue, the abdominal pressure increases, resulting in a feeling of falling, and lower back pain due to traction.

2. Intracavitary tumors: If intrapelvic tumors (such as uterine fibroids, cervical cancer, ovarian cysts, etc.) compress the nerves, or cancer cells infiltrate the pelvic connective tissue, low back pain may occur, and the pain will intensify as the tumor grows.

3. Pelvic inflammatory disease: Women suffering from pelvic tissue inflammation such as chronic adnexitis, pelvic peritonitis, uterosacral ligament or connective tissue inflammation, etc., the inflammatory stimulation of these gynecological diseases can cause low back pain.

4. Cervicitis: When the cervix becomes inflamed, there will be increased vaginal discharge, local itching, tingling and other symptoms; at the same time, the stimulation of inflammation will also cause lower back pain.

Early symptoms of cervical erosion

1. Physiological cervical erosion: Physiological cervical erosion-like changes are generally asymptomatic, but because the single-layer columnar epithelium covering the vaginal part of the cervix has secretory function and is brittle, some patients may experience increased vaginal secretions and bleeding after sexual intercourse.

2. Pathological cervical erosion: Pathological cervical erosion-like changes are mostly caused by bacterial infection or inflammation. At the beginning of inflammation, the erosion surface is only covered by columnar epithelium and the surface is flat, which is simple erosion; later, the erosion surface becomes uneven and particles appear on the surface, which is granular erosion; later, the unevenness of the erosion surface becomes more obvious, and papillae appear on the surface, which is papillary erosion.

After pathological cervical erosion occurs, there will often be increased and sticky leucorrhea, milky white or light yellow purulent secretions, sometimes bloody or mixed with blood; the vulva may be irritated by increased leucorrhea and may develop vulvitis or vaginitis, causing itching and pain; when the inflammation is severe, it may spread along the uterosacral ligament and cardinal ligament to cause pelvic connective tissue inflammation, causing pain in the lower abdomen or lumbosacral region, accompanied by a feeling of falling; when the inflammation spreads to the bladder triangle or around the bladder, frequent urination or difficulty urinating may occur, and sexual intercourse may also cause contact bleeding or odor.
