Is it normal for women to have cervical erosion and bleeding? Analysis of the causes of bleeding from cervical erosion in women

In life, cervical erosion is a common gynecological disease that is very harmful to women's health. It causes great physical and mental harm. Patients should face up to the existence of the disease and actively treat it. Many patients do not know enough about the symptoms and common sense of the disease in the early stage of the disease, which can easily lead to unnecessary panic. So, is it normal to bleed from cervical erosion? Why does bleeding occur?

1. Cervical erosion

Cervical erosion is the most common manifestation of chronic cervicitis. The cells in the cervical erosion area are very easy to fall off and become thinner, so some cervical erosions may also cause bleeding during sexual intercourse, especially for patients with moderate and severe cervical erosion. Modern medical research has shown that the occurrence of cervical cancer is closely related to cervical erosion, so cervical erosion should take necessary treatment measures to prevent cervical cancer.

2. Cervical polyps

Cervical polyps are mostly tongue-shaped, about the size of a sunflower seed, often protruding outside the cervical opening, singly or multiple, soft in texture, and bright red in color. The top of the polyp has loose tissue and rich blood vessels. When some polyps become edematous, gangrenous, and infected, their appearance is similar to that of early cervical cancer, and they are prone to bleeding during sexual intercourse. Cervical polyps are generally benign lesions and rarely become malignant. Therefore, the diagnosis and treatment of cervical polyps cannot be ignored.

3. Cervical cancer

Why does cervical erosion cause bleeding? Bleeding during sexual intercourse is often a dangerous sign of early cervical cancer. The amount of bleeding is not much and the color is bright red. However, if it is early cervical cancer, the amount of bleeding may increase, and even blood clots may flow out. This is because the cancerous cervical cell tissue has eroded and become brittle, and the blood supply to the lesion is good. Therefore, when the cervix is directly hit, it will break and cause bleeding.

4. Vaginal wall abrasion

Elderly women after menopause may experience vaginal atrophy, wrinkles disappearing and lack of elasticity, vaginal dryness, etc. If lubricants are not used during sexual intercourse, it may lead to bleeding and pain during sexual intercourse.

5. Vaginitis

Common types include trichomonas vaginitis and candidal vaginitis. Due to the invasion of pathogens such as trichomonas or fungi on the vaginal wall and cervical tissue, it manifests as severe edema. The vaginal wall of trichomonas vaginitis can be seen with scattered bleeding spots or strawberry-shaped protrusions; while the vaginal wall of candidal vaginitis is eroded or superficial ulcers. In addition, postmenopausal elderly women are prone to bacterial infection and senile vaginitis, with edema and scattered small bleeding spots or ulcers on the vaginal wall and cervical surface. This type of intercourse bleeding is often accompanied by sexual pain.

6. Submucous uterine fibroids

The submucosal fibroids that originally grew in the uterine cavity are pushed down by the contraction of the uterus, and the pedicles are gradually stretched and eventually prolapse from the cervix into the vagina. The thin and long lesions provide poor blood supply to the fibroids, making them susceptible to infection. When the fibroids are impacted during sexual intercourse, the damage is aggravated and bleeding occurs.

7. Other causes of bleeding

If you encounter menstrual abnormalities, you think that your menstruation has ended, and you have intercourse too early, which causes the uterus to contract under sexual stimulation, and the blood remaining in the uterine cavity is discharged from the vagina. In addition, a few women bleed during ovulation. For this type of bleeding, if a gynecological examination shows no abnormalities in the vagina and cervix, the above possibilities should be considered.
