How to check corpus luteum function? See what the doctor says

The method for checking corpus luteum function is to measure basal body temperature first. Women need to test their basal body temperature continuously for 1 month while sleeping at least 6 hours a day. Secondly, check the progesterone level. It is recommended to check it one week after ovulation. Finally, a diagnostic curettage can be performed. This method is traumatic and should be used with caution.

The corpus luteum function is very important for women. Once the corpus luteum function is abnormal, the impact on women's health can be said to be very large. Therefore, it must be avoided. So, how should the corpus luteum function be checked? Let's find out below!
Generally speaking, the methods for women to perform luteal function tests generally include the following:
1. Measure basal body temperature <br/>Prepare the thermometer at the bedside the night before. Sleep for at least 6 hours before waking up naturally. Immediately after waking up, put the thermometer under the tongue and measure for 5 minutes. Then record the body temperature. This is to measure the basal body temperature. At least one menstrual cycle should be measured, that is, from this menstrual period to the next menstrual period. If the basal body temperature is biphasic, that is, it will rise when ovulation occurs, and then drop before menstruation, this is called biphasic basal body temperature. The basal body temperature rises after ovulation. If it is less than 0.3℃ and the high temperature phase lasts for less than 11 days, it is luteal insufficiency.
2. Check the progesterone level <br/>The corpus luteum will produce progesterone only after ovulation, but avoid checking the progesterone level on the 2nd to 4th day of menstruation to avoid low levels. Progesterone peaks one week after ovulation, so the best time to test progesterone is one week after ovulation. If the level is ≥15ngml or <10ngml, it may be corpus luteum insufficiency. If it is <5ngml, it may be that ovulation did not occur.
3. Diagnostic curettage <br/>Diagnostic curettage is a method of scraping out the endometrium or endocervix under hysteroscopy and sending it for pathological examination to clarify the nature of the lesion. It is generally used for cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and other uterine malignancies. Diagnostic curettage can be divided into general curettage and segmented curettage. In case of abnormal uterine bleeding, a comprehensive curettage is required to exclude endometrial cancer, and it needs to be performed as soon as possible to achieve the purpose of hemostasis. Curettage is also performed when menstrual disorders require understanding of the cyclical changes of the endometrium. Diagnostic curettage is a traumatic examination method that can cause harm to women's health. Therefore, it is rarely used in clinical practice at present, unless it is necessary in some special circumstances.
