Is hydatidiform mole hereditary?

Molar pregnancy is not hereditary, but it is possible to recur. The recurrence rate varies with the number of molar pregnancies.

1. First hydatidiform mole <br/>If a woman with a first hydatidiform mole becomes pregnant again one year later, she may have another hydatidiform mole, but the chance of occurrence is low, generally around 2.5%.
2. Secondary hydatidiform mole <br/>If hydatidiform mole occurs twice in a row, the incidence of hydatidiform mole in the third pregnancy is about 23%. Compared with the first hydatidiform mole, the recurrence rate of the second pregnancy after two consecutive hydatidiform moles is higher.
3. Triple hydatidiform mole <br/>Three consecutive occurrences of hydatidiform mole indicate that the female body is not suitable for pregnancy. This is caused by her own genetic factors. The incidence of hydatidiform mole in the fourth pregnancy is as high as 50%. Such patients need to go to the hospital for a physical examination when they become pregnant again, estimate the incidence of hydatidiform mole, and judge whether they are suitable for another pregnancy based on their actual situation.
