What are the complications after abortion?

Artificial abortion is a method used to solve unwanted pregnancy. Artificial abortion is very harmful to women's physical and mental health. Although the artificial abortion operation is not big, we must pay attention to the care of postoperative diseases, otherwise it will lead to some complications, which will cause more serious harm to the patient. So what are the complications after artificial abortion? Let us take a closer look.

1. Intraoperative complications: uterine bleeding of more than 200 ml; artificial abortion syndrome, also known as cardiocerebral syndrome, with an incidence of 12%. The patient suddenly develops a series of symptoms such as bradycardia, arrhythmia, and hypotension, and even faints and convulsions in severe cases; uterine perforation; fetal tissue cannot be sucked out, and the pregnancy continues to develop.

2. Recent complications : incomplete artificial abortion, vaginal bleeding for more than 15 days after surgery; endometritis, parainflammation, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. caused by pathogenic bacteria within 2 weeks after infection. Hematochezia in the uterus; intrauterine adhesions, amenorrhea or significantly reduced menstrual volume after surgery, sometimes accompanied by periodic lower abdominal pain or uterine enlargement and bleeding.

3. Long-term complications : chronic pelvic inflammatory disease; abnormal menstruation; secondary infertility; endometriosis.

4. Complications during subsequent pregnancies: infertility; late miscarriage; premature birth; high perinatal mortality; increased antenatal and postpartum bleeding; increased neonatal hemolytic disease.

In addition to the similar risks of common abortion mentioned above, painless abortion also adds serious complications such as anesthesia accidents. Ideal painless abortion requires anesthetic drugs to take effect quickly, metabolize quickly, and have few adverse reactions. At present, although various anesthetics basically meet the requirements, no one has achieved the most ideal anesthetic. Various reasons may still lead to adverse reactions such as respiratory depression, circulatory depression, and drug allergies.

There are many complications caused by artificial abortion, and the complications are quite serious. Therefore, as a patient undergoing artificial abortion, you should pay attention to every step of the artificial abortion to prevent the occurrence of complications and reduce the harm of abortion. You should develop good living habits and effectively prevent the occurrence of unwanted pregnancies.
