How to check for bacterial vaginosis

How to check for bacterial vaginosis:

1. Check the vulva: Use your middle and index fingers to gently separate the labia majora and carefully observe the vulva, urethra, and vestibule.

2. Vaginal speculum examination: The vaginal speculum can be used to clearly see the cervix and check the vaginal epithelium and secretions for foreign matter. At the same time, a small cotton swab is used to take vaginal secretions for smear, and Gram staining can also be used to take secretions for culture, and drug sensitivity tests can be performed to determine the pathogens.

3. Bimanual rectal and abdominal examination: Use the left middle finger and index finger to separate the labia majora on both sides, and insert the right index finger (the little finger can also be used if it is difficult for the index finger to enter the child's anus and abdomen. The other hand cooperates with each other to feel whether there is any foreign body in the vagina, the size of the uterus and the condition of the pelvic cavity. Rectal examination can also assist in collecting vaginal secretions. The method is to use the rectal finger to press the posterior wall of the vagina forward, and use the other hand to hold a sterilized glass tube to squeeze the rectum and suck the vaginal secretions.

Bacterial vaginosis examination items:

1. Gynecological examination: Through routine gynecological examination, preliminary screening of possible sexual diseases is performed, and secretion samples are taken for necessary examinations.

2. Vaginal secretion examination: Check the cleanliness of the vagina and whether there is infection with fungi, trichomonas, or bacteria (clue cells, pus cells).

3. Vaginal secretion culture: Check which pathogen is causing the infection and provide doctors with accurate diagnosis basis.
