What to do if chocolate cyst occurs

What should I do when chocolate cysts occur? As a type of endometriosis, chocolate cysts not only have the symptoms of endometriosis, but also have their own specific symptoms, including dysmenorrhea, lower abdominal pain, menstrual fever, etc. So, what should I do when chocolate cysts occur?

1. Western medicine surgery and hormone therapy: Western medicine believes that chocolate cysts are a hormone-dependent disease, and usually use surgery combined with hormones to treat them. Hormone therapy is also called "pseudo-pregnancy therapy", which mainly allows patients to have pseudo-amenorrhea, imitating the pregnancy period, using hormones to continue menstruation and relieve some symptoms. To a certain extent, hormones only relieve symptoms and cannot achieve the purpose of cure.

There are two types of surgical treatment: cyst removal and organ resection. After the removal surgery, chocolate cysts will still recur, with a recurrence rate of more than 90%. The recurrence rate of organ resection is relatively low. This surgery mainly removes the ovaries or the entire uterus, which can achieve the purpose of cure, but the trauma is relatively large and has a greater impact on the patient in the future.

2. Conservative treatment of traditional Chinese medicine: There is no clear record of chocolate cyst in traditional Chinese medicine, but it can be included in the scope of "lumps", "dysmenorrhea", "infertility" and "menstrual disorders" according to its symptoms. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the formation of chocolate cysts is mostly related to the dysfunction of the patient's internal organs. According to the principle of traditional Chinese medicine differentiation and treatment, it takes blood circulation and stasis, softening and dispersing nodules, and dredging meridians as the foothold, focusing on differentiation of deficiency and excess, cold and heat, and unblocking and blocking, and regulating the function of internal organs from the inside, which can treat both the symptoms and the root cause, cure chocolate cysts, and the recurrence rate is low after cure.

3. Choose according to your own needs: Traditional Chinese medicine conservative treatment and Western medicine treatment are two methods aimed at different groups of people. Generally, traditional Chinese medicine conservative treatment is recommended for young patients who want to have children, do not want surgery, or have recurrence after surgery. Although traditional Chinese medicine conservative treatment is relatively slow, the treatment generally does not produce other derivative symptoms, and the patient can become pregnant normally after being cured.

Surgery is quicker, but hormone drugs have serious side effects. Generally, surgery is also more traumatic, mainly due to pelvic adhesions after surgery, which can cause permanent infertility. In severe cases, the entire organ needs to be removed. Because everyone's physique is very different and has different needs, you need to choose a treatment method that suits you according to your actual situation.
