What is acute pelvic peritonitis?

In modern society, although the knowledge of gynecological diseases has gradually been popularized, some female friends still neglect to learn about gynecological diseases due to busy work, resulting in the question of "what kind of disease is acute pelvic peritonitis" still being a mystery in their minds. Today, we will solve this mystery for you. I hope you can take the correct treatment and recover soon.

When the pelvic organs are seriously infected, the pathogens can spread through the blood or lymphatic system or directly spread to the pelvic peritoneum, which is called pelvic peritonitis. Pelvic peritonitis often coexists with other pelvic infections, especially salpingitis. In severe cases, the entire pelvic peritoneum undergoes inflammatory changes, and in rare cases, it can even spread to the entire abdomen, becoming diffuse peritonitis. Sometimes due to pelvic peritonitis or inflammatory lesions of other abdominal organs, pus accumulates in the lowest part of the abdominal cavity - the rectouterine fossa, forming a rectouterine fossa abscess.

Clinical manifestations

Since acute pelvic peritonitis is rarely primary, there is often a history of acute pelvic organ inflammation before the onset of the disease. 1. Fever patients have high fever and chills, and the body temperature can reach 40 degrees Celsius or above. 2. The pain is severe and cramp-like lower abdominal pain, which is continuous. Pain during urination and defecation, and diarrhea or constipation occurs from time to time. 3. Mental state. Patients with severe illness may experience irritability, systemic failure, and even unconsciousness, delirium, and coma. 4. Severe patients may experience shock, decreased blood pressure, gray complexion, dry tongue, cold sweats, etc., and later develop collapse, heart failure, pulmonary edema, etc. In the chronic stage, uneven surfaces of the reproductive organs, the greater omentum, and the intestinal mucosa, and lumps of varying sizes can be touched, and the tenderness is fixed.
