Is pelvic peritonitis contagious?

Is pelvic peritonitis contagious? The reason why the incidence of pelvic peritonitis is so high is largely related to its transmission route. So, can we prevent pelvic peritonitis by simply cutting off its transmission route? Understanding the transmission route of pelvic peritonitis can help us eliminate pelvic peritonitis infection from the source.

The main transmission routes of pelvic peritonitis are: transmission through blood circulation, spread through the lymphatic system, spread upward along the genital mucosa, and direct spread after infection of adjacent organs.

Pelvic peritonitis can be acute or chronic. Chronic pelvic peritonitis is more common. Chronic pelvic peritonitis is usually caused by failure to completely cure acute pelvic peritonitis, or by poor physical constitution, low resistance, lingering course of disease or repeated infection. However, a considerable number of patients with chronic pelvic peritonitis have no history of acute pelvic peritonitis, but directly present with chronic pelvic peritonitis. These patients often have a history of miscarriage, unclean intrauterine operation, or sexual intercourse during menstruation or postpartum period.

In my country, the incidence of pelvic peritonitis is very high due to the limitations of personal hygiene and medical conditions, or the lack of awareness of aseptic operation among medical staff during minor gynecological and family planning surgeries, as well as the fact that patients do not pay attention to personal hygiene when intrauterine devices are widely used. With the increasing frequency of foreign exchanges, the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases in my country is increasing year by year, and the pelvic peritonitis caused by this is also increasing.
