This disease has added a lot of troubles to the normal life and work of the majority of patients and friends, and seriously affected their physical and mental health and work. Next, let's learn about the symptoms of hyperprolactinemia.

Hyperprolactinemia refers to a series of pathological syndromes caused by multiple factors that cause the serum prolactin (PRL) concentration to exceed the upper limit of normal under non-physiological conditions.

Symptoms of hyperprolactinemia:

Symptoms 1. Abnormal sexual function

There may be polyphagia, obesity, genital atrophy, sparse pubic and axillary hair, decreased libido, and impotence in men, but normal function may also occur.

Symptom 2: galactorrhea

It is more common in women, accounting for about 30-60%, while in men it may be related to the fact that the breasts have never been exposed to the effects of estrogen and progesterone. Generally, the amount of milk leakage is not large, and small drops of milk are discharged when the breasts are squeezed, but there are also cases where the breasts are not stimulated and a large amount of milk leakage occurs. Some patients with milk leakage have PRL within the normal range.

Symptom 3: Irregular menstruation

Primary amenorrhea 4%, secondary amenorrhea 89%, oligomenorrhea 7%, functional uterine bleeding and corpus luteum dysfunction 23% to 77%.

Symptom 4: Osteopenia

Long-term decrease in estrogen levels due to HP can cause a decrease in bone density.
