The first to fourth days of the menstrual cycle are the menstrual period; at this time, under the action of progesterone, the endometrium will show a secretory reaction; the fifth to fourteenth days are the stage of follicle maturation, that is, the proliferative period; the endometrium and stromal cells will be in a proliferative state; the last is the secretory period; the female progesterone and estrogen levels will decrease, activating the synthesis of prostaglandins in the endometrium, stimulating the contraction of the uterine muscle layer and causing continuous spasm of the spiral arterioles in the functional layer of the endometrium, and the blood flow of the endometrium will decrease. At this time, the thickness of the endometrium can reach 8 to 10 mm.

The main surgical treatment is curettage and aspiration, which is usually suitable for older women who have no fertility requirements.
