The dangers of Bartholinitis

The dangers of Bartholinitis

At present, with the continuous improvement of human living standards and the continuous increase of life pressure, this often leads to the outbreak of many diseases in humans. Bartholinitis is a gynecological disease that is more common among women. However, many women do not understand what Bartholinitis is. At the same time, many women have raised the question of whether Bartholinitis has a great impact on women of childbearing age. In response to such issues, experts from gynecological hospitals have specially provided detailed explanations.

Does Bartholinitis have a significant impact on women of childbearing age?

Bartholinitis is caused by infection of the Bartholin's glands. The Bartholin's glands are located 1/3 deep below the labia majora on both sides, and the gland opening is located on the inner side of the labia minora close to the hymen. The main function is to secrete mucus and lubricate the vagina under the stimulation of sexual intercourse. The Bartholin's glands are easily invaded by bacteria and cause infection. Does Bartholin's glands affect pregnancy? The Bartholin's glands are a pair of glands at the vaginal opening. Its function is to secrete lubricating fluid to increase the lubrication of the penis when it is pumped in the vagina. It has nothing to do with pregnancy. As for whether it affects childbirth, it depends on whether it is inflamed at the time.

Bartholin's gland inflammation is more common in women of childbearing age, and rarely occurs in infants and after menopause. Due to the anatomical characteristics, pathogens can easily invade and cause Bartholin's gland inflammation when the vulva is contaminated during sexual intercourse, childbirth, and other situations. When the Bartholin's glands are infected, the gland ducts are often affected first. The gland duct openings are blocked by inflammation, congestion, and edema, and secretions and exudates are difficult to discharge, which can form Bartholin's gland abscesses. If the abscess is not treated in time, it may occasionally spread to the posterior direction, forming a perirectal abscess, and sometimes even rupture into the rectum. After the abscess is incised and drained, most abscess cavities can be completely closed and healed, but fistulas may occasionally form, with a small amount of secretions constantly discharged. Small and hard nodules can be felt during palpation, with slight tenderness, and pus can sometimes flow out of the fistula when squeezed. Sometimes the fistula closes or narrows on its own, and pus can accumulate and form an abscess again, which may also recur and not heal for a long time.

Prevention of Bartholinitis:

Bartholinitis is mainly caused by bacterial infection of the Bartholin glands, which in turn causes poor drainage of the gland duct opening. Therefore, keeping the vulva clean is the main way to prevent infection. Washing the vulva every day, not wearing nylon underwear, and timely treatment of vulvitis can prevent the occurrence of Bartholinitis to a certain extent.

Through the detailed introduction of the above experts, I believe that the majority of female friends must have a better understanding of the impact of Bartholinitis on female pregnancy. Here the experts remind you that Bartholinitis has no direct impact on pregnancy, but I hope you still actively seek treatment. Many gynecological diseases, if not treated in time, can easily lead to other inflammations, affecting your life and fertility.
