The Bartholin's glands are located on both sides of the vaginal opening, opening in the vestibule of the vagina. When the vulva is contaminated during sexual intercourse, childbirth or other situations, pathogens can easily invade and cause inflammation. Bartholin's gland inflammation is generally not contagious. Infection with Bartholin's gland inflammation is generally related to the following factors. The pathogens of this disease are some common bacteria, such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Gonorrhea. It is often caused by sexual intercourse, childbirth, surgery, gynecological examination or contact of the vulva with certain pollutants. It is a common gynecological disease. The pathogen first invades the gland duct. A large amount of pus is difficult to discharge due to the swelling of the duct opening, which can form a Bartholin's gland abscess with a diameter of 5-6 cm, causing local redness, swelling and pain. Acute Bartholinitis presents with acute suppurative inflammatory changes, with local symptoms of redness, swelling, heat, and pain. Patients sometimes feel heavy and have difficulty urinating and defecating, and have systemic symptoms such as fever and leukocytosis. The glandular duct opening is often blocked due to swelling or coagulation of exudate, and the pus cannot flow out to form an abscess, which is called Bartholin's gland abscess. There may be a sense of fluctuation locally. When the pressure in the abscess cavity increases due to swollen inguinal lymph nodes, it may rupture on its own. If the rupture is large and the drainage is smooth, the inflammation can subside and heal quickly. If the rupture is small and the drainage is not smooth, it may recur, often making the patient restless when walking or sitting. When the acute inflammation disappears, the glandular duct opening is blocked, the glandular endocrine fluid cannot be discharged, or the pus gradually turns into mucus to form a cyst, which is called Bartholin's gland cyst. If you have Bartholinitis, you should not have any mental burden, but should actively seek treatment. You can take the following measures, such as: immediately apply anti-infective drugs according to the doctor's advice; take a sitz bath with warm water or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution (light purple); go to the hospital for ultrashort wave treatment in the early stage of inflammation and after surgery to promote the dissipation of inflammation; if the above treatment still cannot reverse the inflammation and cause the abscess to mature and the nodule to soften, you need to go to the hospital for incision and drainage, change the dressing regularly after surgery, and continue ultrashort wave treatment. Because this disease is prone to recurrence, Bartholin's gland peeling can be performed during the period of inflammation relief; if the inflammation is limited or there are still nodules left after surgery that are not absorbed, infrared irradiation can be added, 15 to 20 minutes each time, 1 to 2 times a day, until the lump is completely absorbed. In addition, you should pay attention to eating a light diet, avoid hot and spicy foods, drink plenty of water, and drink some herbal tea that clears heat and removes dampness; at the same time, you should also pay great attention to personal hygiene and keep the vulva clean; underwear should be washed and disinfected regularly. |
