What are the specific causes of Bartholinitis?

Bartholinitis is a gynecological inflammation caused by pathogen infection. If it is not treated in time, it will cause acute suppurative inflammation and become Bartholin's gland abscess. Bartholinitis is a common gynecological vulvar disease and is more common in women of childbearing age. To better prevent the occurrence of this disease, we must first understand its causes. The following are three factors that may cause Bartholinitis.

1. History of unclean sexual intercourse

If the man is infected with gonorrhea and has not been completely cured but has sex with him, the gonococci on the head of the penis will enter the Bartholin's glands through the duct opening at the vaginal opening; if you have sex during menstruation, the pathogenic bacteria in the menstrual blood can also be "pressed into" the duct opening and enter the deep part of the gland.

2. Delivery

If a vaginal delivery is performed, bacteria can enter the gland through the wound, making it easy for pathogens to invade and cause Bartholinitis.

3. Not paying attention to vulva cleaning

If you touch your genitals with dirty hands, do not wash your vulva every day, or do not change your underwear frequently, the bacteria can multiply and increase in the vaginal opening and enter the glands through the gland duct opening. This is more common among unmarried girls.

This disease is often a mixed infection with complex pathogens, mainly endogenous pathogens and pathogens of sexually transmitted diseases. In China, most of them are Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. In foreign countries and some areas in China, Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the main cause, and it can also be caused by anaerobic bacteria.

Experts remind: Keeping the vulva clean is the main way to prevent Bartholinitis. To prevent this disease, it is best to wash the vulva every day and insist on wearing cotton underwear. If you suffer from vulvitis, you should seek timely treatment, which can prevent the occurrence of Bartholinitis to a certain extent.
