Women with bacterial vaginosis can see a lot of uniform and thin gray-white secretions in their vagina. Some patients can smell a rancid or fishy smell during examination. The vaginal mucosa does not have the congestion or erythema seen in other diseases. Some women with salpingitis or pelvic inflammatory disease may be closely related to them. The main cause of bacterial vaginosis is Gardnerella. 1. Vaginal discharge is grayish white, very sticky, even like paste, and uniform, but it is not purulent, and the amount is uncertain. 2. The amine content in the secretion is particularly high, so it has a fishy smell. During sexual intercourse or after activity, the smell is often aggravated due to the release of amines. Adding potassium hydroxide to the secretion can also release the amine smell. 3. The pH value in vaginal secretions increases, with a pH range of 5.0-5.5, while the normal pH is 4.5-4.7. 4. Clue cells can be detected in wet smears of vaginal secretions. 5. A small number of people with concurrent Trichomonas or Candida infection may experience vulvar itching, vaginal burning sensation, or pain during sexual intercourse. |
