In the middle of the menstrual cycle, i.e. during ovulation, due to a temporary drop in estrogen levels, the endometrium loses hormonal support and some of the endometrium sheds, causing regular vaginal bleeding, which is called ovulation bleeding. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it "intermenstrual bleeding." What medicine should be taken for pathological ovulation bleeding? The following are Western and Chinese medicines for the treatment of ovulation bleeding: 1. Western medicine treatment: Use hormone drugs, the most commonly used is diethylstilbestrol, usually 0.25-0.5nmg/day, start taking it 3 days before ovulation, and stop taking it 1-3 days after the bleeding stops. 2. Treatment with Chinese medicine 1. Kidney Yin deficiency: Vaginal bleeding between menstruation, small amount, red color, soreness and weakness in waist and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, fever in the five parts of the body, red tongue with little coating, and thin and rapid pulse. Treatment method: Nourish the kidney and yin, clear away heat and stop bleeding. Prescription: 15g each of raw rehmannia, glossy privet fruit, 15g each of eclipta prostrata, raw yam, and poria, and 10g each of cornus fruit, moutan bark, and oriental water plantain. Chinese patent medicine: Liuwei Dihuang Pills. 2. Internal accumulation of dampness and heat: Vaginal bleeding between menstruation periods that is red and sticky, or leucorrhea with blood. Usually, leucorrhea is profuse, yellow, thick, and foul-smelling. There is fullness in the chest and abdomen, a sticky and greasy mouth, a bitter taste in the mouth, irritability, poor appetite, a distended lower abdomen, uncomfortable bowel movements, a red tongue with a yellow and greasy coating, and a soft or slippery pulse. Treatment method: Clear away dampness and heat, regulate menstruation and stop bleeding. Prescription: 15 grams each of Atractylodes macrocephala, raw Coix seed, Cyathula capitata, and Eleutherodactyla Root Bark, and 10 grams each of Phellodendron chinense, Alisma orientalis, and Plantago seed (package). Chinese patent medicine: Gujing Pills. 3. Blood stasis: intermenstrual bleeding, small amount, dark purple color, with small blood clots, lower abdominal pain that refuses to be pressed, depression, dark purple tongue or ecchymosis, and sluggish pulse. Treatment method: Promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, regulate menstruation and stop bleeding. Prescription: 15 grams of raw rehmannia, 10 grams each of red peony root, peach kernel, angelica, moutan bark, bitter orange peel, and tortoise shell (pre-boiled), and 1.5 grams of Panax notoginseng powder (brewed with water). Chinese patent medicine: Xuefu Zhuyu Pills. |
