Chinese medicine treatment of amenorrhea due to qi stagnation, blood stasis and phlegm-dampness stagnation

Qi stagnation and blood stasis type amenorrhea

Patients with this type of amenorrhea mainly present with irregular menstruation, small amount of menstruation, gradual amenorrhea, or sudden amenorrhea after a fit of rage, depression, chest, breast, and lower abdominal pain, dark tongue or ecchymosis, thin white or thin yellow fur, and stringy pulse. The treatment method is: regulating qi and activating blood circulation, removing stasis and promoting menstruation; prescription: 15g each of angelica, red peony root, Sichuan cyathula, Curcuma zedoaria, and Rehmannia glutinosa, 12g of peach kernel, 10g each of safflower, Citrus aurantium, vinegar bupleurum, platycodon, Chuanxiong, and licorice; Chinese patent medicine: Xuefu Zhuyu Pills (the main ingredients are angelica, red peony root, peach kernel, safflower, Chuanxiong, Rehmannia glutinosa, Achyranthes bidentata, Citrus aurantium (fried with bran), platycodon, Bupleurum, and licorice).

Phlegm-dampness stagnation type amenorrhea

The main symptoms of this type of amenorrhea are delayed menstruation, gradual decrease in menstrual flow and even cessation, fatigue, gradual obesity, chest and abdominal fullness, poor appetite and excessive phlegm, excessive vaginal discharge, white and thick, pale and fat tongue, white and greasy coating, and slippery pulse. The treatment method is to dry dampness and resolve phlegm, promote blood circulation and dredge menstruation; prescription: 15g each of Poria, Atractylodes, and Angelica, 10g each of Pinellia, Tangerine Peel, Raw Licorice, Processed Cyperus, Arisaema, Citrus Aurantium, Shenqu, and Ligusticum chuanxiong, 3 slices of ginger; Chinese patent medicine: Erchen Pills (the main ingredients are Pinellia, Poria, Tangerine Peel, and Licorice).
