Cervical erosion can be divided into many types according to different properties. 1. Classification according to the manifestation of erosion surface Simple erosion: The epidermis is relatively flat and smooth, and the eroded surface is mostly covered by a single layer of columnar epithelium. It is generally common in the early stages of inflammation. Granular erosion: The surface is uneven and granular in appearance. Inflammation persists, causing excessive proliferation of the cervical epithelium. Papillary erosion: Due to the obvious proliferation of glandular epithelium and its stroma, the unevenness of the surface will be more obvious, and the appearance will be papillary-like. 2. Classification according to different causes of disease Specific erosion: generally caused by bacterial infection, common pathogens include gonococci, Chlamydia trachomatis, etc. Non-specific erosion: mostly caused by imbalance in estrogen secretion, common in unmarried or childless women. 3. Classification according to the severity of the disease Pseudoerosion: It is mostly a red area around the external cervical opening. During colposcopy, after applying 3% acetic acid on the surface of the red area, it can be seen that the red area has a local "grape cluster" change, which is called "exfoliation of the surface epithelium" in pathology. True erosion: It is only a short stage in the pathological process and will eventually be covered by columnar epithelium and become pseudoerosion. 4. Classification according to the degree of erosion area Mild cervical erosion: The lesion area occupies less than one third of the entire cervical area. Moderate cervical erosion: The lesion area occupies less than two-thirds of the entire cervical area. Severe cervical erosion: The lesion area occupies more than two-thirds of the entire cervical area. |
