What are the examination items for leucorrhea of vaginitis?

Leucorrhea is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudates, cervical canal secretions, and endometrial gland secretions, and is closely related to the effects of estrogen. When diagnosing vaginitis, the following four routine examination items for leucorrhea are performed.

1. PH detection

The normal pH value of leucorrhea should be around 4.5. If the pH value of the subject's leucorrhea is between 5-6, the possibility of Trichomonas vaginitis or bacterial vaginitis may be highly suspected.

2. Cleanliness inspection

The extracted leucorrhea is examined under a microscope, and based on the observation of cells under the microscope, vaginal inflammation is divided into four degrees, that is, degrees I-II are normal, and degrees III-IV are abnormal. If only a large number of vaginal epithelial cells and vaginal bacilli are found, it means that the vaginal inflammation is at the level of I; if vaginal epithelial cells, a small number of white blood cells, some vaginal bacilli, and a small number of miscellaneous bacteria or pus cells are found, it means that the vaginal inflammation is at the level of II; if a small number of vaginal bacilli, as well as a large number of pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria are found, it means that the vaginal inflammation is at the level of III; if no vaginal bacilli are found, but in addition to a small number of vaginal epithelial cells, the rest are mainly pus cells and miscellaneous bacteria, it means that the vaginal inflammation is at the level of IV.

3. Amine test

If the leucorrhea emits a fishy smell under the alkalizing effect of potassium hydroxide, it means that the patient has bacterial vaginosis.

4. Fungus and Trichomonas inspection

If Trichomonas or fungi are found in the processed leucorrhea under a microscope, no matter how many there are, it indicates the presence of Trichomonas or fungal infection.
