Untreated dysmenorrhea can lead to infertility

Dysmenorrhea may be a warning sign of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis and other diseases, and some people may even become infertile because of it. Therefore, once a woman has persistent and unbearable dysmenorrhea, she must go to the hospital for examination and not take it lightly!

Untreated dysmenorrhea can lead to infertility

Sun Li, who is in her third year of college, had dysmenorrhea symptoms as early as middle school. She heard from others that dysmenorrhea would disappear after marriage, so she never took it seriously. However, last month, because the pain was unbearable, she went to the gynecology department for a check-up. Only then did she know that she had endometriosis, which would affect pregnancy in the future if not treated actively.

Endometriosis, as the name implies, is a disease caused by the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity (excluding the myometrium). The clinical symptoms of this disease are cyclical, with dysmenorrhea being the most common clinical feature. The pain is usually progressive and worsens, starting 1 to 2 days before menstruation, and is most severe on the first day of menstruation. It gradually eases and even disappears after the menstrual blood is clean. The second is menstrual disorders, which are often manifested as increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstruation, or irregular menstruation.

Endometriosis in the pelvic cavity often causes adhesions of the reproductive organs and obstruction of the fallopian tubes, leading to infertility. The incidence of infertility is as high as about 75%. In addition, due to the different locations of the endometriosis, sexual intercourse pain, intestinal symptoms and urinary tract symptoms may also occur.
