Treatment of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding with Artificial Cycle Therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The artificial cycle therapy of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of functional uterine bleeding is to use medicine according to the physiological changes of the female menstrual cycle after the bleeding of the patient stops, so as to achieve the purpose of regulating the menstrual cycle.

Proliferation phase

From the 4th to the 11th day of menstruation, the focus is on nourishing Yin and regulating Qi and blood to promote the normal growth of the endometrium.

Use follicle-stimulating soup: 15g each of Chinese yam and dodder seed, 12g each of angelica, Cistanche deserticola, Polygonum multiflorum, Rehmannia glutinosa, and Eclipta prostrata, and 9g of Ligustrum lucidum. You can also add 10g each of Millettia reticulata, white peony root, and Cyperus rotundus, and 12g of Salvia miltiorrhiza to nourish blood and regulate qi.

Ovulation

From the 12th to the 16th day of menstruation, the main focus is on promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis to promote egg discharge.

Choose ovulation soup: 12g each of angelica, cuneizi, cooked rehmannia, 15g each of salvia miltiorrhiza, wolfberry, 9g each of safflower, cyperus, red peony root, and zelan. For those with kidney yang deficiency, add 12g each of xianlingpi and curculigo to warm and nourish kidney yang. For those with lower abdominal pain, add 12g of yanhusuo, 10g each of fennel and litchi seed to promote qi, activate blood circulation and relieve pain.

Secretory phase

From the 17th to the 24th day of menstruation, the method of balancing yin and yang and regulating qi and blood is adopted to promote the normal function of the corpus luteum.

Choose the luteal-promoting decoction: 15g each of Danshen, Cuscuta, and Tortoise Shell, 12g each of Lycium barbarum, Eclipta prostrata, Dipsacus asper, and Cistanche deserticola, and 9g of Ligustrum lucidum. For patients with kidney yang deficiency, add 12g each of Epimedium, Curculigo, and Echeveria to replenish kidney yang; for patients with kidney yin deficiency, add 15g each of raw and cooked Rehmannia, and 12g of Cornus officinalis to nourish kidney yin; for patients with spleen deficiency, add 15g of Astragalus, and 12g of Codonopsis to replenish qi and strengthen spleen; for patients with blood deficiency, add 15g each of Danshen, cooked Rehmannia, and 12g of Angelica to nourish blood.

Menstrual period

On the 1st to 4th day of menstruation, the method of promoting qi and blood circulation and regulating menstruation is used to promote smooth menstrual excretion.

Use Huoxue Tiaojing Decoction: 6g each of Angelica sinensis and Cyperus rotundus, 9g each of Rehmannia glutinosa, Red Peony Root, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Ze Lan, Cnidium monnieri, and Poria. If there are a lot of blood clots, add 10g of Notopterygium wilfordii to activate blood circulation; if there is a lot of bleeding, add 12g of Rubia cordifolia and 6g of Panax notoginseng powder to activate blood circulation and stop bleeding.
