Western medicine treatment of bleeding after abortion

Western medicine treatment of bleeding after abortion

Vaginal bleeding after artificial abortion lasts for more than 10 days, with continuous bleeding or heavy bleeding, or heavy vaginal bleeding after the bleeding stops. This is called post-abortion bleeding. It is related to many factors, such as residual pregnancy tissue in the uterine cavity, poor uterine contraction, uterine cavity infection, and coagulation dysfunction. The treatment methods for bleeding caused by various factors are as follows:

1. Residual uterine cavity tissue

If the bleeding is caused by residual uterine tissue, it needs to be analyzed specifically according to the specific situation of the pregnancy residue. If the residue is large, curettage should be performed, and the scrapings should be sent for pathology after the operation; if the residue is small, oxytocin can be injected to promote the discharge of residual tissue, and antibacterial drugs can be given at the same time.

2. Poor uterine contraction

For vaginal bleeding caused by poor uterine contraction, oxytocin should be given to promote uterine contraction.

3. Uterine infection

If the bleeding is caused by intrauterine infection, appropriate measures should be taken according to the patient's intrauterine infection situation. Generally speaking, if the infection is not serious, broad-spectrum antibiotics can be given; if the infection is severe or broad-spectrum antibiotics are ineffective, intravenous antibiotics can be used for treatment; when combined with infectious shock, shock should be actively treated.

4. Coagulation disorders

Patients with bleeding due to coagulation disorders should be treated with hemostatic drugs. If necessary, the type and cause of the coagulation disorder should be identified and targeted treatment should be taken.
