How harmful is abortion to the body?

All surgeries have certain risks. Pregnant women have different endocrine levels than ordinary women. Forced termination of pregnancy will cause greater harm to the body, so you should be cautious when choosing. The main hazards of abortion include:

1. Incomplete abortion

There is residual pregnancy tissue in the uterine cavity, and the patient experiences persistent vaginal bleeding or a small amount of bleeding. Some patients need a second curettage, which means secondary damage.

2. Infection after abortion

It is relatively common. Curettage can damage the endometrium, making it susceptible to bacterial infection. The patient has fever, vaginal discharge with a foul odor, and tenderness when palpating the uterine body and adnexal area.

3. Irregular menstruation

Menstruation is vaginal bleeding caused by the periodic shedding of the endometrium due to the cyclical changes in hormones secreted by the ovaries. Curettage can damage the endometrium. If the patient ovulates after abortion or the corpus luteum is poorly formed after ovulation, menstrual disorders may occur.

4. Heavy bleeding during surgery

Cervical inflammation, poor elasticity and fragility of fibrous tissue or technical problems of the doctor may lead to cervical tearing and uterine perforation during surgery, resulting in heavy bleeding. At the same time, postoperative infection may also affect the implantation of the placenta during future pregnancy, resulting in heavy bleeding.

5. Abortion syndrome

After an abortion, women may experience symptoms of abortion syndrome such as pale complexion, profuse sweating, dizziness, chest tightness, slowed heartbeat, and low blood pressure.

In addition to the above situations, abortion may also cause female infertility, habitual miscarriage, etc.
