Misunderstandings about Dysmenorrhea

Misunderstandings about Dysmenorrhea

Dysmenorrhea, also known as menstrual pain, refers to menstrual pain that affects normal life and requires drug treatment. It is mainly manifested as abdominal cramps accompanied by lower back pain, nausea, vomiting, headache or diarrhea. It is one of the most common symptoms of gynecological patients, but some women lack knowledge about dysmenorrhea and have some misunderstandings about its treatment.

1. Myth 1: Dysmenorrhea will heal automatically

For women who have experienced primary dysmenorrhea, the symptoms may naturally improve or disappear after marriage. However, when dysmenorrhea occurs again after marriage, most people think it is insignificant and the symptoms can heal automatically. In fact, primary dysmenorrhea has no organic lesions and most of them can improve or disappear automatically. Secondary dysmenorrhea often occurs after marriage and is common in diseases such as uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, and endometrial polyps. There are obvious organic lesions. If the primary disease is not treated, dysmenorrhea will not improve.

2. Myth 2: Using medication based on experience can achieve therapeutic effects

Some women use medication to relieve pain based on experience when they suffer from dysmenorrhea, but they do not realize that improper use of medication can cause great harm to the body. Therefore, whether patients have primary dysmenorrhea or secondary dysmenorrhea, they should use medication under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Myth 3: Removing organs is a permanent solution

Some patients with endometriosis, adenomyosis and pelvic congestion syndrome may experience severe dysmenorrhea. Due to long-term pain, they want to remove the diseased organs to achieve a permanent effect. In fact, any organ in the body has a corresponding function, and premature removal may cause some hidden and unknown problems.
