Two Medicinal Diets Suitable for Patients with Ovarian Cysts

1. Water chestnut, barley and fish maw porridge

Main ingredients: water chestnut, coix seed, fish maw, half a tangerine peel, glutinous rice, and salt.

Preparation method: Peel the water chestnuts and take out the meat. Soak the fish maw in clean water to make it soft and then cut into pieces. Add appropriate amount of clean water to the pot, add the ingredients after the water boils, boil for 3 to 5 times, then simmer over low heat until the glutinous rice blooms and becomes a thin porridge. Add a small amount of salt to taste and it is ready to eat.

Efficacy: Strengthens the spleen and removes dampness, detoxifies and relieves stagnation, nourishes the liver and kidneys.

Applicable population: patients with ovarian cysts of spleen deficiency and dampness excess type, with symptoms of heavy, sticky vaginal discharge, yellow color with odor, vaginal itching, red tongue with white fur. This medicinal diet is especially suitable for obese patients, but patients with frequent urination at night or enuresis should be aware that it should not be eaten.

2. Hawthorn, black fungus and brown sugar soup

Main ingredients: hawthorn, black fungus, brown sugar.

Preparation method: Wash and core the hawthorn, boil in about 500 ml of water, remove the residue and keep the juice, add the soaked black fungus, simmer over low heat, and add brown sugar.

Efficacy: Promote blood circulation and dissipate blood stasis, strengthen the spleen and replenish blood.

Applicable population: patients with ovarian cysts of Qi stagnation and blood stasis type, with symptoms of irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, especially premenstrual pain, accompanied by stabbing pain in the lower abdomen that refuses to be pressed, and blood clots, and pain relief after the blood clots are discharged.
