Patients with pelvic inflammatory disease should pay attention to the hygiene of underwear

Pelvic inflammatory disease refers to inflammation of the female pelvic reproductive organs, the connective tissue around the uterus, and the pelvic peritoneum. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease is often caused by incomplete treatment of the acute phase. Because of its long onset and stubborn condition, bacteria from the vulva can retrogradely infect and reach the pelvic cavity through the uterus and fallopian tubes. It is very important for patients with pelvic inflammatory disease to keep their underwear clean.

Research shows that a dirty pair of underwear carries an average of 0.1 grams of feces, and one gram of feces contains 10 million viruses, 100,000 bacteria, 1,000 parasite cysts, and 100 worm eggs. There are pathogens such as salmonella and E. coli in the excrement, and even if they are properly washed and aired, the bacteria on them cannot be completely killed. And these pathogens are the culprits of pelvic inflammatory disease.

Patients with pelvic inflammatory disease should develop the habit of washing and changing underwear frequently. It is recommended to change it every day, especially in summer. When washing underwear, patients with pelvic inflammatory disease should separate it from outer clothes and pants. Choose a detergent with good cleaning ability and not too strong alkalinity. Try to wash it by hand with soap. After washing, do not expose it directly to the sun. First put it in a cool place to air dry, and then put it in the sun to disinfect. Otherwise, the underwear will easily become hard and deformed. In addition, underwear should be placed separately. You can buy some special storage bags, or put them in clean plastic bags to avoid dust and bacteria, which will affect your health.

Pelvic inflammatory disease patients should discard their underwear after wearing it for three months to prevent bacteria remaining on the underwear from causing infection again. If the underwear becomes deformed, dry and hard, or has stains that cannot be washed off, it must be replaced in time.
