Methods for evaluating the effect of medical abortion

As the convenience and safety of medical abortion are accepted by more and more people, some people are worried about the effect of medical abortion. This is related to the evaluation of the effect of medical abortion. Medical abortion has the following effects:

1. Complete miscarriage

After taking the medicine, the gestational sac is naturally expelled, or even if the gestational sac is not clearly expelled, B-ultrasound, blood or urine chorionic gonadotropin confirms complete abortion, vaginal bleeding stops naturally and menstruation changes.

2. Incomplete abortion

After medication, the fetal sac was not expelled, B-ultrasound examination confirmed that there was residual tissue in the uterine cavity and curettage was performed, or the fetal sac was expelled. During follow-up, curettage was performed due to various factors such as excessive bleeding, prolonged bleeding, delayed conversion of blood and urine chorionic gonadotropin to negative, or excessive bleeding when the first test turned negative.

3. Failure

No products of pregnancy were expelled 8 days after medication, and B-ultrasound examination confirmed that there was a complete gestational sac or a fetal bud and fetal heartbeat in the uterine cavity. The pregnancy was eventually terminated by negative pressure aspiration.

Evaluation results: Complete abortion is a good effect, accounting for 90% to 95% of medical abortion, incomplete abortion and failure are poor results, the two together account for 5% to 10% of medical abortion, so medical abortion needs to be combined with instrumental artificial curettage to achieve 100% effectiveness.
