Treating Amenorrhea with Chinese Medicine and Diet

Dong, female, 36 years old. After "medical abortion" a year ago, lochia dripped and was not clean, but the treatment was ineffective. Later, she had an argument with someone over trivial matters, became impatient and qi stagnated, and was also caught in the cold during the journey and rain. Cold stagnation of qi, obstruction of the uterus, obstruction of Chong and Ren, and blood not flowing down, so that the lochia stopped without treatment. After stopping, swelling and pain gradually appeared around the Qihai and Guanyuan points under the navel and abdomen, which was more painful than swelling and hard, and also affected the lower abdomen. Dong was given 7 doses of warming meridian prescription for conditioning treatment.

Prescription: 3 grams each of Evodia rutaecarpa, cinnamon bark, and safflower, 10 grams each of angelica root, red peony root, ligusticum chuanxiong, peach kernel, Chinese rhizome Achyranthes bidentata, and processed Cyperus rotundus, 15 grams each of Codonopsis pilosula and Rehmannia root, and 5 grams of vinegar-cured Bupleurum.

Usage: 1 dose per day, decoct twice, take in the morning and evening. 120g of Dahuang-Chong Wan, 3 times a day, 5g each time, take with rice soup.

Efficacy: Warming the meridians, relieving qi and activating blood circulation.

At the follow-up visit: abdominal distension and pain had subsided, appetite had improved, and stools had become soft. The medication was appropriate, and the original prescription was continued for 5 doses, 480 grams of Dahuang?Chong Wan.

Third visit: The patient said that she felt no discomfort, so the decoction was stopped and the patient was still advised to take Rhubarb and Wormwood Pills. When she took 480 grams, her menstruation stopped and she was cured.
