Uterine fibroids are a common benign tumor in the female reproductive organs. For most patients, what they need to pay attention to is the complications of uterine fibroids , which is the most critical part. So what are the main manifestations of complications of uterine fibroids? Let's take a look at the complications of uterine fibroids. (I) Infection and suppuration: Myoma infection is often the result of tumor pedicle torsion or acute endometritis. Hematogenous infection is an extremely rare complication of uterine myoma. Infection can sometimes be suppurative, and in a few cases, abscesses form in the tumor tissue. After the pedicle of a subserosal fibroid is twisted, intestinal adhesions may occur, which may be infected by intestinal bacteria. The inflamed fibroids may adhere to the uterine appendages, causing purulent inflammation among the complications of uterine fibroids. Submucosal fibroids are most susceptible to infection. Complications of uterine fibroids often coexist with acute endometritis after abortion or during the puerperium. Some are caused by damage from curettage or obstetric surgery. Due to tumor protrusion or surgical trauma, the tumor capsule often ruptures, which is prone to infection and necrosis. Necrosis often causes severe irregular bleeding and fever. The discharged necrosis debris loses its coloring reaction due to necrotic tissue, and microscopic examination often cannot obtain results. (II) Torsion: Subserosal fibroids can twist at the pedicle, causing acute abdominal pain. If the pedicle is severely twisted and surgery is not performed immediately or the pedicle cannot be turned back by itself, the pedicle may be broken and a free fibroid may be formed, as mentioned above. The twisted fibroid can also drive the entire uterus, causing axial torsion of the uterus. The site of uterine torsion is mostly near the internal opening of the cervical canal, but this situation rarely occurs. It is mostly caused by a large subserosal fibroid attached to the bottom of the uterus and the cervical canal is relatively slender. The symptoms and signs are similar to those of ovarian cyst pedicle torsion, except that the mass is harder. (III) Uterine fibroids combined with uterine body cancer: Uterine fibroids combined with uterine body cancer account for 2%, which is much higher than uterine fibroids combined with cervical cancer. Therefore, menopausal patients with uterine fibroids and persistent uterine bleeding should be alert to the presence of endometrial cancer. Before confirming treatment, a diagnostic curettage should be performed. (IV) Uterine fibroids complicated with pregnancy. The key point of the above analysis is about the complications of uterine fibroids. I hope it can help you, the patient, further understand the hazards of complications of uterine fibroids.
