How do we correctly diagnose cervicitis?

The incidence of cervicitis is getting higher and higher in life, but many patients do not know about cervicitis and cannot detect the disease in time. So what are the diagnostic methods for cervicitis ? The following is a detailed answer to the relevant questions.

1. Typical clinical manifestations: The diagnosis of this type of cervicitis is mainly through clinical manifestations, and the main symptom is increased leucorrhea. Acute cervicitis leucorrhea is purulent, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region, or bladder irritation signs such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. Chronic cervicitis leucorrhea is milky white mucous, or light yellow purulent; severe cervical erosion or cervical polyps may present bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse. Mild cases may have no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads to the pelvic cavity along the uterosacral ligament, there may be pain in the lumbosacral region, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and dysmenorrhea, which worsens during defecation and sexual intercourse. In addition, sticky and purulent leucorrhea is not conducive to the passage of sperm and can also cause infertility.

2. Examination is one of the diagnostic methods for cervicitis: Acute inflammation can show cervical congestion and edema, or erosion, with purulent secretions discharged from the cervical canal, and pain when touching the cervix. Chronic cervicitis can show different degrees of cervical erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, and eversion, or purulent secretions at the cervical opening, and the cervix is hard when palpated. If it is cervical erosion or polyps, there may be contact bleeding.

3. It is difficult to distinguish cervical erosion or polyps from early cervical cancer. The latter is hard, brittle and easy to bleed. It is necessary to rely on cervical scraping to find cancer cells. If necessary, colposcopy and cervical tissue biopsy can be performed for differentiation. For those with more serious conditions, cervical biopsy can be performed to confirm the diagnosis, which is also part of the diagnosis method of cervicitis.

The above is an introduction to the diagnosis of cervicitis. If the patient is not clear about the condition, he should go to the hospital for treatment in time. If you want to know more about cervicitis, please consult an online expert.
