According to traditional Chinese medicine, the causes of amenorrhea are very complex, some are caused by organ dysfunction, some are caused by organic organ disease, and some are caused by other diseases. They can be roughly divided into the following situations: ⑴ Deficiency of liver and kidney: Amenorrhea in young girls is mostly caused by inadequate congenital endowment, weak kidney qi, insufficient liver blood, insufficient Chong and Ren meridians, and the inability of the body to produce menstrual blood, resulting in amenorrhea; while amenorrhea in women is mostly caused by frequent childbirth, or long-term illness affecting the kidneys, resulting in insufficient kidney essence, liver blood, deficiency of Chong and Ren meridians, and no overflow of blood from the uterus. ⑵ Deficiency of Qi and blood: unhealthy spleen and stomach, insufficient source of transformation, or overeating, fatigue, excessive worry, which damage the heart and spleen; or serious illness, long-term illness, blood loss, or breastfeeding for too long, which leads to deficiency of blood, Chong and Ren blood deficiency, and lack of blood production, resulting in amenorrhea. ⑶ Yin deficiency and blood dryness: Yin deficiency in the body, or Yin deficiency due to blood loss, long-term illness or serious illness, excessive consumption of spicy and dry foods that damage Yin, Yin deficiency generates heat, which burns the Ying Yin and causes amenorrhea. ⑷ Qi stagnation and blood stasis: The seven emotions cause internal injuries, Qi stagnation and blood stasis, or during menstruation, the blood chamber is open, and the wind, cold and raw cold evil enters through the gap, and the blood stagnates when it encounters cold. Qi stagnation and blood stasis are the cause of the disease, Chong and Ren meridians are stagnant, and the uterine vessels are blocked, resulting in the failure of menstruation. ⑸ Obstruction of phlegm and dampness: Obese people have more dampness, and because the spleen yang fails to warm the body, the dampness gathers into phlegm, which blocks the Chong and Ren meridians, causing coldness in the uterine vessels and impeding the flow of menstruation. In addition to the above reasons, some congenital abnormalities in reproductive organ development or acquired organic damage can also lead to amenorrhea, such as congenital absence of uterus and ovaries, or acquired damage to the ovaries, or pituitary tumors, or congenital defects in the cervix, vagina, hymen, labia, etc., or acquired damage causing adhesions and closures that prevent menstrual blood from overflowing, or postpartum hemorrhage leading to pituitary infarction (i.e. Sheehan syndrome), long-term use of contraceptive drugs, etc., can also cause amenorrhea. |
