Pathological symptoms of amenorrhea

Pathological symptoms of amenorrhea

Women generally experience menarche before the age of 18, but some women do not have menarche for a long time. We call this phenomenon primary amenorrhea. Many women also suddenly experience amenorrhea due to excessive abortions, curettage, cold, or drug effects, diseases, etc., which we call secondary amenorrhea. Whether it is primary amenorrhea or secondary amenorrhea, it is affected to a certain extent by the continuous organ of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovary, and of course, it will also be affected by uterine diseases or other factors. Generally speaking, amenorrhea refers to pathological amenorrhea.

(1) Uterine amenorrhea and cryptomenorrhea:

It is mostly caused by uterine hypoplasia. Usually, menarche has not occurred before the age of 18, or the menarche is late, the menstrual flow is small, and then menopause gradually disappears. This situation is mostly caused by endometrial tuberculosis, and there will be periodic lower abdominal pain or back pain accompanied by low-grade fever, night sweats, fatigue and other systemic symptoms.

(2) Ovarian amenorrhea:

Amenorrhea caused by ovarian dysfunction can cause vaginal dryness and difficulty in sexual intercourse; amenorrhea caused by premature ovarian failure often occurs before the age of 40, and patients often have menopausal symptoms such as facial hot flashes, hot sweats, and irritability; and amenorrhea caused by polycystic ovary syndrome can be seen in obesity, infertility, etc.

(3) Pituitary amenorrhea:

Amenorrhea caused by pituitary tumors is often accompanied by headaches, blurred vision, or lactation. Amenorrhea caused by anterior pituitary necrosis occurs during postpartum hemorrhage and is usually manifested by decreased libido, genital atrophy, weakness and fear of cold, and gradual hair loss.

(4) Hypothalamic amenorrhea:

It often occurs in response to mental trauma, excessive stress, or severe malnutrition, and amenorrhea often occurs suddenly.
