Understanding the causes of pelvic inflammatory disease

The peak incidence of pelvic inflammatory disease occurs after women give birth. Why is the incidence of postpartum pelvic inflammatory disease so high? I will focus on the causes of pelvic inflammatory disease. There are many causes of pelvic inflammatory disease. I will briefly introduce a few of them:

1) The causes of pelvic inflammatory disease include: postpartum or post-abortion infection, maternal weakness after delivery, failure to close the cervix in time due to residual blood and turbid fluid flowing out, placental detachment surface in the uterine cavity, or birth canal damage caused by delivery, or residual placenta and fetal membranes, or premature sexual intercourse after delivery, pathogens take advantage of the opportunity to invade the uterine cavity and easily cause infection; prolonged vaginal bleeding during spontaneous abortion or medical abortion, or residual tissue in the uterine cavity, or lax aseptic operation during artificial abortion surgery, etc., can all lead to post-abortion infection.

(2) The causes of pelvic inflammatory disease also include infection after intrauterine surgical operations: such as placement or removal of intrauterine contraceptive rings, curettage, tubal insufflation, hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy, submucosal myomectomy, etc. Due to preoperative sexual intercourse or lax surgical disinfection or inappropriate preoperative indications, the original chronic inflammation of the reproductive tract may be disturbed by the surgery and cause acute attacks and spread. Some patients do not pay attention to personal hygiene after surgery, or do not follow the doctor's orders after surgery, which can also cause bacteria to ascend and cause pelvic inflammatory disease.

(3) Poor hygiene during menstruation is also one of the causes of pelvic inflammatory disease: If you do not pay attention to hygiene during menstruation, use unclean sanitary napkins and panty liners, take a bath during menstruation, have sexual intercourse during menstruation, etc., pathogens can invade and cause inflammation.

(4) The cause of pelvic inflammatory disease can also manifest as acute attacks of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease.

How to prevent pelvic inflammatory disease: 1. If there is vaginal bleeding during menstruation, after abortion, and after gynecological surgery such as placement and removal of the ring, sexual intercourse must be prohibited, swimming, bathing in a tub, and taking a sauna bath are prohibited, and sanitary napkins must be changed frequently. Therefore, the body's resistance is reduced, and pathogenic bacteria can easily take advantage of the opportunity to enter and cause infection. 2. Pay attention to the amount, quality, color, and taste of leucorrhea. If the amount of leucorrhea is large, the color is yellow and thick, and there is a foul smell, it means that the condition is more serious. If the leucorrhea changes from yellow to white (or light yellow), the amount changes from more to less, and the taste tends to be normal (slightly sour), it means that the condition has improved. 3. Eliminate all kinds of infection routes, keep the perineum clean and dry, wash the vulva with clean water every night, and make sure that a special person has a special basin. Do not use your hands to wash the vagina, and do not use hot water, soap, etc. to wash the vulva. During pelvic inflammatory disease, the amount of leucorrhea is large and the quality is sticky, so change underwear frequently and do not wear tight-fitting or chemical fiber underwear.

The above four causes of pelvic inflammatory disease are introduced to you first. If you can do a good job of taking care of the above four causes of pelvic inflammatory disease in your life, you can greatly reduce the incidence of pelvic inflammatory disease. Please keep in mind the experts' advice.
