What are the main causes of cervical erosion?

Treatments for cervical erosion include medication, physical therapy, and surgery. Its occurrence is related to factors such as changes in hormone levels, infection, and mechanical damage. Common medications include antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and hormone drugs; physical therapy includes cryotherapy, laser therapy, and electrocautery; and surgical treatment is suitable for severe cases, such as cervical conization, LEEP knife surgery, and hysterectomy.

The occurrence of cervical erosion is related to many factors. Changes in hormone levels are one of the main reasons. Increased estrogen levels can cause the cervical columnar epithelium to migrate outward, forming erosion-like changes. Infectious factors should not be ignored. Infections with pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi can cause cervical inflammation and lead to erosion. Mechanical injuries such as childbirth, abortion, and surgery may cause damage to cervical tissue and increase the risk of erosion. Genetic factors may affect an individual's susceptibility to cervical erosion, and certain gene mutations may increase the risk of the disease. Environmental factors such as long-term exposure to chemicals and radiation may also cause damage to cervical tissue.

Drug therapy is a common method for the treatment of cervical erosion. Antibiotics such as metronidazole and azithromycin can be used to treat infection; anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen can relieve inflammation; hormone drugs such as estradiol and progesterone can regulate hormone levels. In physical therapy, cryotherapy destroys abnormal tissue through low temperature; laser therapy uses high-energy laser to burn the diseased tissue; electrocautery therapy uses electric current to burn the lesion. Surgical treatment is suitable for severe cases. Cervical conization removes the diseased tissue; LEEP knife surgery uses electric knife to remove the lesion; hysterectomy is suitable for those with other serious gynecological diseases.

The key to preventing cervical erosion is to maintain good living habits, avoid unclean sexual behavior, conduct regular gynecological examinations, and promptly detect and treat cervical inflammation. For patients who have already developed cervical erosion, appropriate treatment methods should be selected according to the condition, and regular review should be conducted to monitor changes in the condition. Through comprehensive treatment and preventive measures, cervical erosion can be effectively controlled, complications can be reduced, and the quality of life can be improved.
