Causes of pelvic inflammatory disease in women

Causes of pelvic inflammatory disease in women:

The incidence of female pelvic inflammatory disease is very high. The high-risk factors leading to pelvic inflammatory disease mainly include postpartum infection, infection after gynecological surgery, improper menstrual hygiene care and the spread of inflammation in surrounding organs. Female pelvic inflammatory disease must be treated in time. According to different causes, the corresponding treatment methods are formulated to help improve the treatment effect and prevent the recurrence of the disease.

1. Postpartum infection

Women are weak after childbirth or miscarriage, and the cervix dilates but does not close in time. If personal hygiene is not taken care of after childbirth, the possibility of bacterial infection will be greatly increased. The discharge of lochia during the puerperium provides a good environment for bacterial reproduction, and the bacteria will enter the pelvic cavity through the vagina or cervix and cause pelvic inflammation. If the lochia is unclean at the same time, and there are placenta and fetal membranes left in the uterus, the chance of infection will be greater.

2. Infection after gynecological surgery or examination

Many gynecological examinations require the use of equipment, and gynecological surgeries require opening the pelvis, increasing the possibility of inflammatory infection. Common procedures include fallopian tube fluid, salpingography, and endometrial polyp removal. If the operating environment is not good or hygiene and disinfection are not strict, or there is chronic inflammation of the organs, the possibility of postoperative infection increases, leading to pelvic inflammation.

3. Improper hygiene care during menstruation

During menstruation, the endometrium is shed and discharged from the body in the form of menstrual blood. The opening of the blood sinuses in the uterus accelerates the reproduction of bacteria. If you do not pay attention to hygiene care during menstruation, use inferior sanitary napkins or take a bath, bacteria will rise and infect, enter the pelvic cavity through the open cervix, and cause pelvic inflammatory disease.

4. Inflammation spreads to surrounding organs

There are many important reproductive organs in the pelvic cavity. If adjacent abdominal organs are inflamed at the same time, bacteria will spread directly to the pelvic cavity, causing pelvic organ infection. The most common are appendicitis, peritonitis, etc. The pathogens of chronic cervicitis can also cause pelvic inflammatory disease through lymphatic circulation. In addition to symptomatic treatment, the primary disease should also be actively controlled to prevent repeated inflammation.
