What causes adnexitis?

Adnexitis is usually caused by bacterial infection, and common causes include reproductive system infection, improper surgical operation, poor personal hygiene, etc. Treatment should be based on the cause, including antibiotics, physical therapy, or surgical intervention, while also paying attention to daily care and prevention.

1. Reproductive system infection is the main cause of adnexitis. Common pathogens include gonococci, chlamydia, etc. These bacteria enter the body through sexual transmission and cause inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Unclean sexual behavior, multiple sexual partners, and failure to use safety measures will increase the risk of infection. In terms of treatment, doctors usually prescribe antibiotics such as azithromycin, doxycycline, etc., and recommend that patients undergo simultaneous treatment of their sexual partners to avoid cross-infection.

2. Improper surgical operation may also lead to adnexitis. Gynecological operations such as artificial abortion and hysteroscopy may introduce bacteria into the reproductive system if the disinfection is not thorough or the operation is not standardized. Improper postoperative care, such as premature sexual intercourse or failure to follow the doctor's advice to use antibiotics, will also increase the risk of infection. Preventive measures include choosing a regular medical institution for surgery, strictly following the doctor's advice after surgery, and avoiding resuming sexual intercourse too early.

3. Poor personal hygiene is another important cause of adnexitis. Long-term use of unclean sanitary products, lack of attention to cleanliness during menstruation, wearing too tight underwear, etc., will increase the risk of bacterial infection. In daily life, you should choose cotton underwear with good breathability, change sanitary napkins frequently, and keep the vulva clean and dry. In terms of treatment, in addition to the use of antibiotics, you can also use physical therapy methods such as warm water sitz baths and infrared therapy to promote the disappearance of inflammation.

4. Other factors such as low immunity and long-term use of antibiotics may also induce adnexitis. When immunity is low, the body's resistance to bacteria decreases, making it easy to get infected. Long-term use of antibiotics may destroy the balance of vaginal flora and lead to excessive growth of pathogenic bacteria. Enhancing immunity and using antibiotics rationally are important measures to prevent adnexitis.

The prevention and treatment of adnexitis should start from many aspects, including maintaining good personal hygiene habits, avoiding unclean sexual behavior, choosing regular medical institutions for surgery, etc. Once symptoms appear, you should seek medical attention in time and follow the doctor's advice to avoid worsening of the disease or complications.
