How to treat abnormal leucorrhea with foul odor

Abnormal leucorrhea with a foul odor may be a sign of a gynecological disease. You need to seek medical attention in time and treat the symptoms after the cause is determined. Leucorrhea is a "barometer" of the health of the female reproductive system. Under normal circumstances, it should be colorless, odorless, transparent or milky white. If leucorrhea has an odor, especially a foul odor, it may be caused by bacterial infection, vaginitis, cervicitis or even more serious gynecological diseases.

Common causes of abnormal odor in vaginal discharge include bacterial vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis or cervical lesions. Bacterial vaginitis is usually caused by an imbalance of vaginal flora, Trichomonas vaginitis is caused by parasitic infection, and cervical lesions may be accompanied by tissue necrosis and produce odor. These conditions need to be diagnosed through gynecological examinations, routine vaginal discharge tests or cervical screening.

Treatments vary depending on the cause. Bacterial vaginitis is usually treated with antibiotics, while Trichomonas vaginitis requires antiparasitic drugs. If the odor is caused by cervical lesions, further treatment may be required, such as surgery or physical therapy. During treatment, avoid using irritating lotions to clean your private parts, keep your vulva dry and clean, wear breathable cotton underwear, and avoid sexual intercourse to avoid worsening the infection.

If the abnormal odor of leucorrhea is accompanied by other symptoms, such as vulvar itching, abdominal pain or fever, it is recommended to see a doctor as soon as possible. Paying attention to personal hygiene, avoiding excessive cleaning of the private parts, and maintaining healthy living habits, such as a balanced diet, moderate exercise and adequate sleep, can help prevent the occurrence of abnormal leucorrhea.
