What are the consequences of a woman's hydatidiform mole?

Hydatidiform mole is a pregnancy-related disease that may lead to serious health problems such as heavy bleeding, infection and even malignant transformation. Treatment includes uterine curettage, chemotherapy and regular follow-up monitoring.

1. Consequences of hydatidiform mole

Mole is divided into complete mole and partial mole. Complete mole may cause serious complications, such as heavy bleeding, infection and malignant transformation into choriocarcinoma. The risk of malignant transformation of partial mole is lower, but it still needs to be vigilant. Mole may also cause systemic symptoms such as hyperthyroidism and hypertension. If not treated in time, it may be life-threatening.

2. Treatment of hydatidiform mole

The treatment of hydatidiform mole is mainly curettage, which is to remove abnormal tissue in the uterus through surgery. Pathological examination is required after surgery to confirm whether it is a malignant hydatidiform mole. For malignant hydatidiform mole or choriocarcinoma, chemotherapy is the main treatment method, and commonly used drugs include methotrexate, actinomycin D, etc. Blood hCG levels need to be monitored regularly after surgery to ensure that the condition is stable.

3. Prevention and care of hydatidiform mole

The cause of hydatidiform mole is still unclear, but it may be related to genetic and environmental factors such as malnutrition and advanced or young maternal age. Preventive measures include pre-pregnancy health check-ups, a balanced diet and avoidance of harmful substances. Postoperative care requires attention to rest, avoidance of strenuous exercise, regular blood hCG and ultrasound examinations to ensure that the disease does not recur.

Although hydatidiform mole is a serious pregnancy disease, most patients can recover with timely treatment and standardized management. Regular follow-up and monitoring after surgery are essential to help detect and deal with potential problems early.
