Sudden abnormal yellow and sticky leucorrhea

Sudden abnormal yellow and sticky leucorrhea

The sudden appearance of abnormal vaginal discharge, yellow color, sticky texture and itching may be a sign of vaginitis, cervicitis or a sexually transmitted disease. You need to see a doctor promptly to identify the cause and receive targeted treatment.

Abnormal leucorrhea is usually related to inflammation of the vagina or cervix. Vaginitis is the most common cause, including bacterial vaginitis, candidal vaginitis and trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginitis is mostly caused by an imbalance of vaginal flora, manifested by increased leucorrhea, grayish white color, and fishy odor; candidal vaginitis is caused by infection with Candida albicans, and the leucorrhea is tofu-like, accompanied by obvious itching; trichomoniasis is caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, and the leucorrhea is yellow-green and foamy, accompanied by odor and itching. Cervicitis may also cause abnormal leucorrhea, especially chronic cervicitis, with increased, sticky, yellowish leucorrhea, and sometimes bloody. Sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia infection can also cause abnormal leucorrhea, which needs to be confirmed by laboratory tests.

Treatment methods vary for different causes. Bacterial vaginitis is often treated with oral or topical metronidazole or clindamycin; candidal vaginitis can be treated with oral fluconazole or clotrimazole vaginal suppositories; and trichomoniasis requires treatment with metronidazole or tinidazole. The treatment of cervicitis requires the selection of antibiotics based on the pathogen, such as azithromycin, doxycycline, etc., and physical therapy such as laser or freezing if necessary. Sexually transmitted diseases require the selection of antibiotics or antiviral drugs based on the specific pathogen, such as ceftriaxone for gonorrhea and azithromycin for chlamydia.

In daily care, keep the vulva clean and dry, avoid using irritating lotions, choose cotton underwear and change it frequently. Avoid spicy and greasy foods, and eat more foods rich in vitamin C and probiotics, such as yogurt, fresh fruits and vegetables, which can help enhance immunity. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical attention in time to avoid self-medication and delaying the condition. Regular gynecological examinations can also help to detect and treat related diseases at an early stage.
