As the temperature soars in the summer, the appetite decreases, so some office workers begin to adopt a "calm" diet. In order to lose weight in the summer, they excessively adopt the wrong low-oil, low-salt and low-sugar diet. In addition, some people adopt a picky eating method, including deliberately eating more cold, sour and spicy foods, mistakenly believing that it can stimulate the appetite. During the summer vacation, some schoolchildren also follow the summer vacation diet, and as a result, they inadvertently absorb too much high-oil and high-sugar food, forming a health burden.

People have poor appetite in summer and many people have wrong diet concepts, which affects their health.

Why is it easy to lose appetite in summer? According to Japanese nutritionist Fumiyoshi Tezuka in his book "Eat for Health", for every 10°C increase in temperature, the body's need for calories decreases by an average of 70 calories. In summer, the body's need for calories decreases, so people don't feel hungry. In addition, under the high temperatures in summer, the human body's nerves are often in a state of tension, and the functions of certain secretory glands are also affected, resulting in phenomena such as weakened digestion and loss of appetite.

However, in order to maintain basic physiological needs, we have to eat. If we do not have the correct concept of healthy eating at this time, we may have the wrong way of intake, which may endanger our health, so we have to be careful.

In the summer, it is common to see some female office workers complaining of nausea and dizziness in nutrition consultation clinics. After questioning, it was discovered that they had been adopting an incorrect low-oil, low-salt and low-sugar diet for a long time, and almost did not add any oil, salt or sugar when cooking. As a result, they had long-term lack of protein, good fats and fiber, and even severe lack of sodium intake, which led to the above symptoms. Nutritionist Yang Chenghua said that if the condition is not stopped or improved, the long-term nutritional imbalance will accelerate the aging process in more than a month, including fatigue, rough skin, hair loss and other sequelae.

In addition, summer is also a wonderful time for schoolchildren to have their summer vacation. However, due to the busyness and negligence of parents, they are unable to control their children’s diet. As a result, many schoolchildren often drink cold high-sugar beverages to cool down, or they particularly like fried foods. Once they consume excessive amounts of high-oil and high-sugar foods in a short period of time, in addition to raising alarms about weight, they will also cause health problems and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

For pregnant women, eating in the summer is also a headache. They have no appetite due to pregnancy, and under the pressure of high temperature, they don’t know what to eat. However, in order for the fetus to develop well, nutritionists still recommend that they should take in adequate nutrition, including protein, calcium, iron, vitamins and other nutrients in a balanced manner without neglecting any of them.

As for the elderly, diet in summer is also a problem. As they age, the functions of various internal organs decline and the digestion and absorption capacity weakens. If they do not pay attention to normal dietary nutrition intake, they may easily experience various "bitter summer" symptoms such as loss of appetite, indigestion, fatigue, irritability, etc. It is suggested that the elderly should pay more attention to dietary conditioning in summer to avoid bias and affect their health.
