Abnormal yellow vaginal discharge in newborns

Abnormal yellow vaginal discharge in newborns

When a newborn's leucorrhea is abnormally yellow, parents are advised to take the baby to the doctor immediately, and have a professional doctor determine the cause and provide targeted treatment.

Newborns' vaginal discharge is usually a temporary phenomenon caused by the influence of maternal hormones. It often appears as white or transparent discharge and will disappear on its own over time. However, if the color of the vaginal discharge changes, such as turning yellow, it may indicate infection or other abnormalities and should be taken seriously.

One common cause of this condition may be local irritation caused by diaper rash or diaper eczema. In addition, it may also be bacterial infection, yeast infection, or even rare congenital genital problems. Among them, infection is usually accompanied by symptoms such as local redness and swelling, and baby irritability, while diaper rash is more related to not changing diapers in time and skin being wet for a long time. If not treated in time, odor, pus and other conditions may follow.

Parents need to keep the baby's genital area clean and dry in daily care, wash it with warm water, and gently dry it after changing the diaper. Avoid using adult wipes or irritating skin care products to avoid adding burden to the baby's skin. If you find that the baby's condition has not improved or other symptoms appear, be sure to see a doctor as soon as possible to protect your health.
