How to check for pelvic inflammatory disease

How to check for pelvic inflammatory disease?

The examination for pelvic inflammation generally involves checking the secretions. Of course, it can also be diagnosed through B-ultrasound, laparoscopy, pathogen culture, posterior fornix puncture, male partner examination and other examination methods. After diagnosis, timely treatment is required to avoid delaying the disease and causing more serious consequences. It is also usually necessary to pay attention to rest and keep the genitals clean.

1. Secretion examination

Pelvic inflammation can be detected by direct smear examination of secretions, sampling of vaginal and uterine cavity secretions, and of course, urethral secretions or peritoneal fluid can also be used for smear examination.

2. Ultrasound examination

Ultrasound examination can identify some masses or abscesses formed by the fallopian tubes or ovaries. Although severe inflammation can be found in the image, mild and moderate inflammation may be difficult to detect by B-ultrasound.

3. Laparoscopy

Generally speaking, if there is no erosive peritonitis, laparoscopy can be used to check pelvic inflammation. Laparoscopy can make a clear diagnosis and analyze the extent of pelvic inflammation, so pelvic inflammation also needs to be checked by laparoscopy.

4. Pathogen culture

Pelvic inflammatory disease can be detected by culturing pathogens, but instead of the traditional chlamydia test method, it can be directly cultured using mammalian cells, which can also be diagnosed.

5. Posterior fornix puncture

Posterior fornix puncture is generally a diagnostic method for acute abdominal pain. Through puncture, the contents of the uterine cavity or uterine rectal fossa can be obtained, and blood, pus and secretions in the abdominal cavity can be examined for further diagnosis.

6. Check your male partner

If you want to help women diagnose pelvic inflammation, you can also do a smear staining of your partner's urethral secretions. If it is found to be positive, this is a strong evidence. Of course, sometimes more white blood cells are found. At this time, you can also treat your partner, so that the possibility of recurrence will be smaller.
